Reflection

What went well:

Upon completing the project it was evident that overall it went very well. We worked well as a team and communicated online constantly to complete the various sections of our website and miro board. Each member of the team worked to their utmost ability to use creative methods to inform ourselves on how to deliver the most effective and psychologically relevant sensory garden, including a prototype, personalised logo, conducted interview, informative website and background research.

What didn’t go well:

There were some difficulties when completing the project. Meeting in person wasn’t always convenient for everyone so we often completed work in our own time, or sent voice messages and texts to communicate. It would have been more effective to be physically present as most of our innovative ideas came when we worked together. Keeping up with the workload individually was difficult in this way, but we divided it equally and in the end it worked out and we all had it done on time.

What could be improved for next time:

If we were to complete a sensory garden project again, It would be important to meet in person more. It also may have been beneficial for more people to complete parts of the background research so that we could have an array of different information to inform us all. A group visit to a sensory garden may have been inspiring too, so that could be an option for future endeavours.

Suggestions for future research:

In terms of future research, the project as a whole could be expanded further by choosing a different “route” designed by the dptec, such as the amber route. We chose the green route so we didn’t have the option of interviewing the general college students as well as neurodivergent students , due to them being a vulnerable group. If a different route was chosen, more space for research would be apparent.
If we had extra time, we could have also developed a much more complex plan, conducted more interviews and completed more background research, so time constraints allowed us to complete work up to a certain level during this project.
